Getting ready for camp

On Monday 30th June a group of around sixteen children, who regularly attend our mid week children’s meeting, along with some young helpers and leaders will set off on their annual summer camp, for a week, to South Beach Baptist Church in Saltcoats. There they will take part in all the things youngsters enjoy doing while on holiday including playing on the beach, swimming, ice skating and ten pin bowling.

There will also be time for lots of indoor fun. As well as having a good time together the main purpose of the holiday is to introduce the children to Jesus and to teach them from the Bible. To this end they have a very short Quiet Time each morning and a meeting each evening with singing, quizzes and a Bible story. These times away together have always been very much enjoyed by both youngsters and leaders alike and we trust and pray that this year is no exception.

Feast or Famine!

Due to a technical hitch we’ve had a bit of a backlog uploading the recent sermons – apologies to our members who depend on this link to be able to be a part of the church family.

The sermons from the past two weeks are now uploaded – so it really is a feast or a famine!

You will notice that the four sermons from Haggai are numbered, as they are not in the right order on the page.

Bibles in Church

In our modern age of technology many churches no longer provide pew Bibles, nor do people bring their own Bible to church – we have become accustomed to having the scripture reading on the screen.

This evening, the Bible reading was not available on the screen & we were asked to consider if perhaps it would be better for people to return to the practice of bringing their own Bible to church & having pew Bibles for those who don’t have one.

What do you think?  Has modern technology robbed us of something precious – people handling and reading the Word of God together?
